Tue 08 Sep 2026Important: School Snack and Lunchbox Arrangements from September 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the introduction of the new statutory guidance on allergy safety in schools from September 2026, schools are required to take a whole-school approach to allergy management and reducing the risks associated with allergic reactions.
The DFE guidance states that schools should take measures to manage the risks of exposure to allergen. This includes food brought in by others which includes parents, children and staff.
Please understand that often children swap food and / or share, and it is very difficult to prevent this from happening. The consequences of a pupil eating or coming into contact with an allergen could be potentially fatal, and so we ask all families to adhere to our new rules.
We have considered reasonable adjustments to reduce any risks of exposure to allergens. In order to reduce the risk of children being exposed unnecessarily to allergens, we are limiting the foods that the pupils can have access to during the school day.
Break time snacks are limited to fresh or dried fruit only; which is healthy and not harmful to any of the pupils.
We appreciate that this is a change for some families. The purpose of this approach is to provide a simple, consistent and healthy snack arrangement, while also helping the school to minimise unnecessary food allergens being brought into the school environment.
Packed Lunch Boxes
Please do not send children to school with:
• Crisps
• Biscuits
• Nuts or nut products
• Chocolate or sweets
• Cakes or pastries
• Cereal or snack bars
• Other packaged or processed snacks
Lunch boxes will be checked daily. It is vital that you label all packed lunch boxes with your child’s name and class. In this way we can ensure that children have access to their own lunch only and will not take an incorrect box.
In the case of families preparing food for their children in lunchboxes, please be aware of potential allergens such as nuts as, once again, sometimes children attempt to share food (which we do not allow).
We try as far as possible to ensure an ‘allergen free’ environment, but cannot guarantee this. We do not allow nuts onto our premises, but we are ‘nut aware’ rather than ‘nut free’, as children and families sometimes break this rule.
Children with medical or dietary requirements
We recognise that some children may require an alternative snack because of a medical condition, allergy or specific dietary requirement.
Where this applies, please contact the school so that appropriate arrangements can be agreed in accordance with your child’s individual healthcare needs. No child will be disadvantaged as a result of a medically necessary dietary requirement.
We ask all parents and carers to support us by ensuring that children only bring an appropriate and agreed snack to school.

We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer break.
We are pleased to inform you that school will reopen tomorrow for pupils in KS1, KS2 and the ARP. We look forward to welcoming all our pupils back and beginning a new academic year together.
Please ensure that your child arrives on time, in the correct school uniform and ready for the day ahead.

Hot Weather News
Fri 19 Jun 2026Dear Parents and Carers,
With the hot weather forecast to continue over the coming days, we would like to remind families to ensure that children come to school prepared for the warmer temperatures.
Please ensure that your child:
- Brings a clearly named water bottle to school every day. We will encourage children to drink water regularly throughout the day and bottles can be refilled as needed.
- Wears suitable clothing for the weather. Summer uniform should be worn where applicable.
- Has a sun hat or cap to wear during outdoor activities.

Arrives at school with sun cream already applied. Children should not bring sun cream into school.
We will be taking sensible precautions throughout the day, including encouraging regular hydration, making use of shaded areas where possible, and adapting outdoor activities if necessary.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep all children safe and comfortable during the hot weather.

Culture Day Thursday 21st May 2026
Thu 14 May 2026Dear Parents and Carers,
We are excited to be celebrating Cultural Diversity Day at school on Thursday 21st of May and would like to invite all children to take part in this special event.
On this day, children are welcome to come to school dressed in clothing that reflects their culture, heritage or nationality. This could include traditional clothing, colours representing their country, or clothing that is meaningful to their family background.
Throughout the school, we will also be creating cultural showcase displays to celebrate the wonderful diversity within our community. These displays may include flags, maps, photographs, traditional fabrics, artefacts and interesting facts about different cultures around the world.
We would greatly appreciate any contributions families may wish to share to support the displays. If you have any items, photographs or information about your culture that you would be happy for us to display, please send them into school with your child.
We are looking forward to a joyful and enriching day where children can learn from and celebrate one another’s cultures and traditions.

Letter from the Headteacher

RE: Children using age-inappropriate Social Media
Dear parents and carers,
This letter is to inform you of important changes to our rules.
It has come to our attention that children in the school have been using age-inappropriate social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok. All of these platforms have age restrictions far higher than primary school aged children.
These age restrictions are in place for good reasons. Every year at our school we have witnessed distressing and dangerous use of social media where children have been using bad language, making threats and bullying others. Whilst this problem is a country-wide issue, we have decided to take a strong stance on this matter.
From next week (Monday 18th May) the school will be placing a ban on this usage of age-inappropriate Apps. We cannot do this alone without your support. I have spoken to many parents about this issue in the last few weeks and I have received a great deal of support for this move.
From Monday 18th May 2026, any child found to be on age-inappropriate chat groups (whether the conversations are positive or not) will receive an automatic sanction.
We have spent a great deal of time in recent years dealing with the consequences of online bullying and inappropriate behaviour. We have witnessed children’s mental health and well-being and, in some cases children severely negatively affected in many ways.
I would ask all parents to support this decision as we have your children’s safety and well-being at heart. In the meantime, I advise all parents to keep a close eye on their children’s online usage.

Dear school community,
As we enter into the Easter period I would like to remind everyone of the true message of this celebration. Easter is linked to new life and new beginnings, often in the form of eggs, lambs and the countryside springing to life again following the winter. This link is in recognition of Jesus’ death and resurrection. This is a special time for Christians. I wish you all a very happy Easter break. Enjoy your family time together and the gift that this brings.
