Welcome
Welcome from the Headteacher
Thank you for showing an interest in George Carey Church of England Primary School’s website. We are located within the Rivergate Community Centre at the heart of the Barking Riverside development; an area which continues to grow. As such we are at the centre of this new, rich and diverse community.
The school opened in September 2011 and, in a short space of time, has grown into a full three form of entry school with a successful Nursery for 78 part time pupils. We follow the local authority’s admissions procedures and we do not select children based upon their ability or faith. Indeed, although we are a Church of England School we welcome pupils and staff from all religious backgrounds as well as those with none. The school is highly inclusive of children with additional needs and also incorporates an additional resource provision (ARP) for 12 children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Children are placed within this unit by the local authority through a referral process. ARP pupils join in with day to day school life and integrate into mainstream classes according to their individual levels of need.
At George Carey Church of England Primary School, children are at the heart of everything that we do. We pride ourselves in our child centred approaches and pupil voice is valued.
The school is flourishing and, if you are thinking of joining us, we look forward to sharing the experience and working with you in the drive for continued improvement.
Yours faithfully
Chris Harrison
