Get Set for Nursery!

At our school, we believe that a successful start to Nursery begins before a child’s first official day.

As part of our Nursery admissions and transition process, we offer Get Set for Nursery, a six-week programme designed to help children and their families feel happy, confident and prepared for starting Nursery.

Over the six weeks, parents and carers are invited to attend alongside their children and take part in a range of fun, age-appropriate activities. Children have the opportunity to explore the Nursery environment, play, meet their new teachers and support staff, become familiar with routines and begin building friendships with other children who may be starting Nursery with them.

The programme is also about supporting the whole family. Parents and carers can get to know our school team, ask questions, share important information about their child and develop positive relationships with the adults who will be supporting them.

We also work with other professionals and community services, including Health Visitors and Family Navigators, giving families opportunities to find out about wider support that may be available to them.

Our previous Get Set for Nursery programmes have shown us just how valuable this early transition work can be. Children who have taken part have arrived with greater familiarity with the Nursery environment and staff, helping them to settle quickly and positively into Nursery life.

Most importantly, Get Set for Nursery allows us to begin building strong relationships with children and families from the very beginning.

Get Set for Nursery is more than preparing children for their first day. It is about welcoming the whole family into our school community and giving every child the best possible start.
