  • Drop in service letter

    Tue 19 Sep 2023

    19th September 2023

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to let you know about some of the work that the counselling team do at George Carey Church of England Primary School.

The counselling team provides emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people at George Carey with a counsellor on site two days a week. The counselling service gives children and young people a space to express themselves through talking and creative work, and to think about any worries they might have.

From this term the counselling team will be offering a ‘drop in service’ which will be open to all children and young people at George Carey. The children and young people can make an appointment to spend 15 minutes with a trained counsellor, either by themselves or with a friend. Children and young people often talk about friendships or any worries they may have.

The counselling team will record your child’s name, year group, gender, the broad topic of discussion and any actions taken as a result of the session (for example another session being offered, or a discussion with an adult who might further support the child or young person should they wish)

Parental Agreement for Accessing Drop in Sessions

Could you please provide consent for your child to attend if they so wish and compete the form below and submit it to their class teacher.

If you would like to find out more, please contact the office and leave a message for Naomi the school counsellor on 0208 270 4040 who will be very happy to get back to you and answer any questions.

    Dear Parents,

We are at the start of another academic year and with this in mind we had an opportunity to improve some of our systems over the summer break and stream line our communication systems. This letter is to inform you of the changes that will take place starting September 2023.  The changes are around the different ways we communicate and how information is disseminated.

READ CAREFULLY: To set up the App

Please complete the attached permission slip and return it to your class teacher so we can send you an invitation to download the app. This will then give you access to school information and will allow us to send you messages. It will also give you access to the school calendar.

To keep you fully updated, it is important that we have the most up-to-date parent/guardian contact details and emergency contacts for your child.

Benefits of the app for Parents and Carers.

    • We can be certain that you have received the message

    Text messages

The school will sending messages via the messaging service on the school website. Parents will need to download the school website app. We are phasing out our current text messaging system and moving over to a web based messaging system.  In order to use this system you will need to download the school website app and to ensure the school has an updated email address.

    Class Dojo

The class page will contain all the information needed.  General information will be added to Dojo on the school story page.  Class teachers will update the class page with information relevant to their own class. You may also get messages from other class teachers across the school. Class Dojo will still exist for messaging your child’s class teacher.

    Parent Pay

Parent Pay will be used to make payments for trips, school meals, enrichment clubs and breakfast club. Permission to attend events or trips will be approved via Parent Pay only.  Paper permission slips and cash will not be accepted in school.
