Volcanoes – Do you know what a volcano is? What causes it to erupt?
In Year 5, children will be exploring the fascinating topic of volcanoes through both Geography and Science. They will study how volcanoes are formed, the different types of volcanoes, and the causes and effects of volcanic eruptions. Pupils will also investigate the structure of the Earth, including the layers beneath its surface, and learn how tectonic plate movements lead to volcanic activity. Through practical investigations, research, and case studies of famous volcanoes around the world, children will develop a deeper understanding of the powerful natural forces that shape our planet.
