Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Blue Abyss

Children will learn about the human uses and physical features of the sea. This unit will develop their knowledge of ocean layers, sea exploration, food chains, habitats and pollution.

The unit is about a whole host of exciting water animals and the many types of marine habitats that exist below the surface of the sea. Learning about these different types of habitats and what a marine habitat is like is a great way for children to understand more about the rich variety of biodiversity on our planet, and how many different creatures live.

Teaching children about marine habitats is also a great opportunity to teach them about food chains that exist in the ocean, and the importance of food chains. Learning more about animals that live in the ocean should also give your children a better understanding of the importance of protecting and conserving the ocean as it is a home for these animals!
