SEND
Special Educational Needs
George Carey Church of England Primary School is an inclusive school welcoming all children and their families. The school’s mission statement highlights the fact that all the people involved in the school are like parts of one body. Where children with special educational needs or disabilities make less progress, the whole body of the school is less effective. Pupils with SEND are an important and integral part of our school and they need to achieve their standard for the school to be healthy. As such, each member of the school community carries out their duties in supporting provision to be the best that it can be.
At George Carey Church of England Primary School, we believe that all pupils are entitled to an education that enables them to achieve their best, have access to a rich and varied curriculum, become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, and make a successful transition into adulthood.
The school plays a crucial part in making the SEND ‘journey’ as informative and successful as possible. We are committed to support our parents/carers as much as supporting our pupils as a joint up approach to ensure the best outcomes for all the children. This approach allows the views of the child, their parents/carers and the key staff that work with the families to be at the core of the decision-making process.
If you wish to discuss your child’s needs or progress or raise a concern, the classroom teacher might be best equipped to support with your enquiry. Alternatively, if you wish to find more information about the existing SEND provision within the Barding and Dagenham borough, contact a member of the Inclusion Team, or get impartial support from an external organisation, please use the details below.
